Notable traditions & events

Student Competition:

  • NAHB: The annual National Association of Home Builders Student Competition is one of the highlights of the International Builders’ Show (IBS).
  • ASC IPD: The annual Associated Schools of Construction student competition.
  • NAIOP: The annual Rocky Mountain Real Estate Challenge is the premier Real Estate competition of the year that pairs graduate-level students from the University of Denver and the University of Colorado and industry leaders in the Colorado real estate community to evaluate development opportunities.

The Playhouse Project: The Burns School Student Playhouse Project is an annual project led by Burns School students to plan, schedule and build a life-sized playhouse for a family suggested by a variety of support organizations.

Real estate extracurricular activities available

The RECM Club was organized to enhance relationships between DU RECM students and Denver’s professional real estate and construction community. Membership in the RECM Club is open to all DCB students.

Meet and Greets: Companies can table in front of the student common area to meet with students organically between classes. This can be done in conjunction with a Company Info Session.

Lunch and Learns: You can host a lunch and learn by putting together a panel of industry professionals to present topics and career opportunities.

Networking opportunities

The Collaboratory is a networking centre where students in the Burns School will learn by connecting, engaging and interacting with DU alumni and real estate and construction professionals from anywhere in the world without leaving campus.
