To ease the cost burden and crisis, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts issued new requirements for 175 MBTA Communities. The new law mandates at least one zoning district in which multi-family housing is allowed as-of-right. This will impact the 175 municipalities that surround the City of Boston and are served by the MBTA.
