This session discusses a pathway towards a solution for building owners, managers, tenants and advisors in the greater DC region who are developing processes to identify, quantify and implement energy conservation measures in their buildings and across their portfolios. To help with these challenges, ASH RAE developed Standard 100 to provide basic targets to set, the process to achieve the targets and a methodology for repeating the process.

Unlike many codes and standards, Standard 100 offers solid guidance for commercial buildings and also has methods for identifying excess energy usage in residential and mixed-use properties, frequently an overlooked source of emissions, energy consumption and expenses. This voluntary standard is intended as a tool to help building owners, property managers, and other stakeholders who impact building greenhouse gas emissions develop a refined, consistent process for minimizing energy use and resultant emissions.
