SUSTAINABILITY IN DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT: Steps You Can Take Today To Ensure Your Building Of Tomorrow Has Limited Carbon Emissions
According to the United Nations Environment Program, the manufacturing of building materials produces 11% of all global greenhouse gases. To combat this, the UN came together – in 2015 – and adopted the 2030 Agenda, a global commitment to achieve sustainable development by 2030.
In the U.S., sustainability is increasingly becoming an important issue; 73% of S&P 500 companies produce sustainability reports annually. Locally leaders across the board are doing their part. The city, with programs like The Seattle Building Tune-Ups Ordinance and the Green Building Standards, has established sustainability as a priority while major CRE companies, Martin Selig Real Estate and Prologis, are going above and beyond with currently underway projects to put the environment first.
Join Bisnow and Skanska’s Director of Sustainability Stacy Smedley as she discusses the long term goals of developing sustainability, what Seattle is doing to meet the UN’s 2030 Agenda, and the cost savings associated with going green.
