Behind the Curtain on Microsoft’s Campus Transformation
How does a company undertake a campus redevelopment involving 17 new buildings and 3 million square feet—all while keeping the company open for business? This panel will reveal all that and more, as Microsoft takes participants behind the scenes of its campus transformation and shares lessons learned along the way.
We’ll discuss our decision redevelop the Puget Sound campus in Redmond, and how we translated Microsoft’s cultural transformation into the built space. We will share how we prepared for and set up the campus renewal—with four different teams of architects, each to create its own “village”—and the design and construction logistics and streamlining of aesthetics that were needed for the megaproject.
Finally, we’ll describe the culture of collaboration that had to be established to get so many different players—many of them competitors—working together. We’ll share decisions we made early on that turned out to be invaluable—and others we’d do differently next time.
NAIOP Washington State’s annual business meeting will precede the morning’s program.
