As the coronavirus crisis continues, residents of the Bronx have questions concerning the future of their neighborhood and how the pandemic impacts the economic opportunities in their area.

Even though the Bronx has a smaller population than other NYC boroughs and a lower case total of COVID-19 than other areas of New York City, the borough is seeing dramatically more deaths overall. The Bronx is home to more than 60 % of New York City’s very low-income residents and the borough also leads in the number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations. As of April 10, there have been 1,185 deaths, according to New York City Health Department data.

Thousands of New Yorkers have lost their jobs, either temporarily or permanently, and numerous small business owners are now left with the responsibility of keeping both their businesses afloat and workers safe.
