According to the UN-Habitat, the increasingly rapid urbanization of the Philippines poses a great challenge to the country in terms of achieving sustainable urban development. Metro Manila’s population is projected to grow to 16.9 million by 2030, and the pressing challenges associated with urbanization such as flooding, solid waste management, traffic, congestion, and air and water pollution are pushing the limits of the metropolis to a breaking point.

The challenges of urbanization are not just found in Metro Manila but all over the country as the population continues to grow and more people are moving and living in cities for better opportunities. How can we advance commercial opportunities while ensuring the development of cities adhere to sustainable principles? What’s the roadmap for cities from here?
