2020 Spring Meeting Webinar Series: The Future of P3s: Redefining the Traditional Model
From new transit lines to hospitals and from large government-funded institutional projects to university-sponsored technology business incubators, public/private partnerships (PPPs or P3s) have been the preferred choice for procurement and delivery of many projects in Toronto and Ontario. Thirty-two projects valued at more than $65 billion are underway in Ontario. Many lessons can be learned from recent experiences, among them addressing unforeseen risks, controlling costs, and overcoming obstacles to deliver these urgently desired projects by redefining the traditional model. This session will feature experts in P3 procurement and delivery from across North America who will examine successes and challenges associated with recent projects across different sectors, including infrastructure, transit, health care, transit-oriented mixed-use communities, and research and development. They will also deliberate on the future of P3s and how this model has evolved with a redefinition of the traditional roles of the public and private partners.
Learning objectives:
- Evolution of P3 models.
- Innovations for overcoming obstacles to P3 procurement.
- Encouraging newer players to enter the P3 market.
