NAIOP DC MD | Healthy Building Strategies for a Post COVID World

July 15, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened awareness of the role buildings play in our health and wellbeing. As leaders in every sector of our economy contemplate how to reopen safely, healthy building strategies will play a key role in mitigating the spread of disease. But are the goals of sustainability and healthier indoor environments in conflict? No! Dr. Joseph Allen, Director of the Healthy Buildings Program at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, will debunk the myth that healthier indoor air is incompatible with energy efficiency and offer actionable steps that will make every building healthier for the people inside without compromising the long-term goals of efficient operation and lower costs. If managed poorly, buildings can contribute to the spread of disease. But if we get it right, we can enlist the places where we live, learn, work and gather in the fight against COVID-19. In a post-COVID-19 world, owners and landlords will be judged on the health of their buildings. By employing smart health and energy efficient strategies owners can realize the co benefits of energy savings, and healthy buildings.

Join us for this important and timely webinar moderated by Deborah Cloutier, President and Founder RE Tech Advisors, and learn about evidence-based strategies to prioritize human health in your buildings.

Dr. Joseph Allen is Director of the Healthy Buildings Program, an Assistant Professor at Harvard’s T. H. Chan School of Public Health, and the author of Healthy Buildings (Harvard University Press, 2020). His work has been featured nationally, including in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal.
