For 50 years, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) has made environmental protection a mandatory component of the decision making process of every public agency across the state. It’s mandated protocols require the measurement and mitigation of environmental impacts for a vast array of development projects, but also significantly inhibit the construction of much-needed transportation infrastructure, such as complete streets, bicycle lanes and transit.
In light of COVID-19, the rapid implementation of these projects are more important than ever and a new senate bill aims to streamline the process. Join us to provide input on SB288 and learn how it can lessen the pain of a dramatic economic downturn, create a more equitable, affordable and sustainable transportation system and avoid a carpocalypse as our economy reopens.
