St. Louis Tackles Carbon from Existing Buildings: the Midwest’s First Building Performance Standard
Welcome to the June session of our Community Connections Webinar Series. Join the Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) in partnership with USGBC and the Midwest Building Decarbonization Coalition to find out if a Building Performance Standard is right for your city!
The City of St. Louis recently adopted the Midwest’s first Building Performance Standard and only the fourth in the country. The new law requires existing buildings in St. Louis to meet energy efficiency standards, which will rise over time. City, state and utility programs will help building owners achieve the savings, cut their operating costs, and create local jobs.
Buildings account for 80% of St. Louis’ greenhouse gas emissions. For cities around the country, Building Performance Standards are the most powerful tool available to rapidly cut emissions.
Join the team from St. Louis to learn how you can advocate to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, drive energy efficiency improvements in existing buildings, and boost economic growth and job creation within your city.
