ULI New York and the Impact Lab’s District Energy and Decarbonization Forum

September 24 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Featuring the latest KPF Report on District Electrification

As New York City moves toward its climate mandates, district energy systems are emerging as a critical tool for large-scale building decarbonization — offering real estate owners and developers an alternative path to compliance that doesn’t rely solely on building-by-building electrification. This seminar brings together perspectives from the public sector, private development, utility planning, and district energy innovation to explore how these systems work in practice, where they make sense, and what real estate professionals need to know to evaluate them.

Through case studies and panel discussion, speakers will examine the current state of district energy in New York, the economics and operational tradeoffs for property owners, the utility perspective on long-range steam and thermal network planning, and emerging models for district-scale energy solutions.
