Join us for a walking tour of the burgeoning development in the Broadway Valdez District in Oakland! Historically known as Auto Row, the District extends from the edge of Uptown Oakland to the shores of Lake Merritt and up to Hwy 580 near Temescal with Broadway at its core. As the area’s eponymous auto dealers and shops began to shutter, the area was in need of a new vision for the future. Finalized in 2014, the Broadway Valdez Specific Plan delivered that vision by establishing a framework for the area’s next chapter of development into a vibrant mixeduse district.

We will start the tour at Holland Partner Group’s recently completed 450-unit apartment project, Vespr, with views of their adjacent Phase 2 project that recently broke ground. We will be joined by an Oakland City planner to provide a brief overview of the district plan before hearing from the Holland team. From there, we will walk to the Hanover Broadway and Northgate apartment projects anchored by a welcoming public plaza featuring sculpture installations. We will end the tour at Signature Development’s Kissell, a recently-opened hotel/apartment project next to their The Hive project, which was one of the earliest recent developments in the area. The session will end with a networking happy hour at a nearby watering hole.
