Clash or Club? The role of culture in harmonising the business and investment case for community in residential development.

The ULI UK Residential Council will hold their next meeting virtually on 6 July, with a focus on the importance of art and culture in regeneration, particularly in suburban areas where it may be more difficult to define or capture.

COVID-19 has brought the importance of cultural experiences into sharp focus for many people. Moving away from the city often results in diminishing our access to culture.

Those involved in building new places are increasingly asking how they can deliver culture in new communities, both at small and large scale.

Many are mindful of the requirement to protect and harness the existing culture in places where it is already strongly established; others are keen to ensure that culture is promoted in places which are less well-provisioned.

The question that developers and investors could be asking themselves is “how can we make this a neighborhood rather an ‘estate’ or a ‘development’.”

The 2 hour session is proposed to explore these themes and address the investment case for culture.
