Real Estate Associate Full Time

The Real Estate Associate position is an opportunity that will expose the individual to multiple aspects of the multi-family commercial real estate industry. In this unique role, you will have an opportunity to learn the fundamental aspects of both debt and equity platforms. You will have the opportunity to perform post-close Asset Management on a portfolio of multifamily and BTR assets as well as provide direct support for Debt Originations via production management and business development.

Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities)

The Real Estate Associate will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Asset Management

• Collect and analyze property financial statements and rent rolls to assess property performance, trends, and risks.
• Communicate with investment sponsors on an ongoing basis to explain operating variances, obtain leasing and occupancy updates, and the status of execution of investment business plans.
• Facilitate the dissemination of annual investor K-1 statements to the investor portal and drive the related process.
• Synthesize cogent and salient investor quarterly reporting commentary, accurate income statement and occupancy presentation, and drive the process for issuance of investor and senior management quarterly reporting on a timely basis.
• Obtain and issue fair market valuations to relevant investor SDIRA custodians.
• Review and approve capital calls for ongoing projects.
• Drive investor distribution process; calculate investor distribution amounts for upload to portal, initiate distribution with Treasury Department, and guide investor distribution notice process.
• Periodically update investment models for distributions, capital calls, investment fees/promotes, and projected values to evaluate projected performance.
• Maintain relationships with investors; field investor questions, requests, and issues, and act as liaison between internal and external parties to facilitate resolution, requests, and accounts.

Production Management – Originations

• Prepare initial analysis of loan packages to qualify incoming loan requests for review by the Senior Production Officer with an emphasis on deals intended for agency loans
• Under the supervision of the Sr. Production Officer, oversee end-to-end loan origination process for various high importance transaction and exclusive and proprietary sources of capital
• Interact directly with high importance sponsorships and external counterparties
• Assess quality of information provided and report shortcomings to origination staff and/or directly with sponsorship
• Expand knowledge and develop relationships with internal decision-makers as well as external partners such Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae Production and Underwriting Staff to provide guidance to origination teams
• Interact with originators and screening teams in the collection of the necessary due diligence to build strong loan request packages
• Participate in weekly Pipeline and Production Meetings and be prepared to discuss current status of active loans in the Pipeline
• Participate in Kick-Off Meetings with Originator, Underwriter and Closer for loans under application
• Ensure data integrity of data entries input in Salesforce and pipeline management systems for all active loans by supporting analysts
• Review ongoing and single-task analyst project assignments for Senior Production Officer including, but not limited to, borrower, asset and market research

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in real estate and/or finance (MBA or Masters in Real Estate preferred, but not required)

Experience: 3+ years of experience in real estate asset management, finance and/or investment banking. Multifamily experience required. Experience with GSE Multifamily lending (Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae) a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Highly motivated, organized, hard-working and focused on succeeding.
• Strong Microsoft Excel real estate modeling skills
• Strong interest in commercial real estate specifically the multifamily / SFR asset classes.
• Excellent research, analytical, organizational, time management, interpersonal, writing and communication skills, including an innate attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively track and handle multiple contemporaneous projects.
• Capacity to work in a team-oriented environment and engage in cross departmental collaboration, as well as independently problem solve
• Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word.
