Simon’s capital markets team is responsible for strategic planning and execution of the Company’s capital structure, as well as corporate financial risk management. Our analyst would be responsible for preparing and creating reports to assist Executives making key financial decisions. Analysts are expected to gain knowledge of debt, equity, interest rate, foreign exchange, and derivatives markets through on-the-job exposure and independent study. Simon is looking for a candidate who will be independently motivated, eager to expand her or his analytical skills and master corporate finance fundamentals.
Team Projects:
- Weekly review of the company’s working capital needs, including access to short-term funding through commercial paper and revolving credit facilities.
- Monthly strategic review of company-wide sources and uses of capital; assists with multi-year projection of debt and equity transactions.
- Quarterly creation of Simon’s long-term financial plan, including company- and property-level projections and valuations.
- Quarterly review of debt covenant compliance; assists with preparing materials for ratings agencies and fixed income investors.
- Periodic and ad-hoc credit relationship summaries and share of wallet analysis.
- Periodic debt service budgeting, review and create derivative and debt trading recommendations to achieve budgeted objectives.
- Quarterly assessment of corporate foreign exchange exposures and hedging recommendations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in finance or real estate; 2 years of relevant work experience or demonstrated interest in corporate finance or capital markets preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, dedication to team-oriented problem solving and collaboration.
- Familiarity with financial modeling in Excel.
Preferred Attributes:
- CFA® charterholder or enrolled in the CFA® Program.
- Experience with financial modeling, forecasting and planning in Anaplan®.
